Career Summary

Tyler is an experienced technology, privacy and data protection lawyer. Tyler has acted for many of Australia’s most recognisable technology organisations in matters centered around technology contracting/procurement, cyber incident response, privacy preparedness and contentious disputes.

Key and Recent Experience

Director, Corporate Affairs and Integration

Agilyx Group - Present

Returning for a second tour with the Agilyx Group, Tyler has assumed a role focused on handling the Group’s most sensitive affairs and important growth and partnership initiatives. This role combines legal practice focused on sales support and dispute resolution with managing ‘channel partnerships’ aimed at product and service growth. On a day-to-day basis the role involves handling Group legal matters similarly to Tyler’s previous role as Group Corporate Counsel.

Associate and Cyber Incident Response Manager

Clyde & Co - Nov 2019 to Mar 2021

Tyler assisted organisations respond to some of Australia’s most prominent cyber incidents (ranging from simple business email compromises to complex ransomware) and to manage the legal and commercial risks associated with operating in an increasingly hostile digital environment.

Tyler’s practice was principally concerned with Cyber Incident Response, Privacy and Data Protection law. Tyler also acted in complex Cyber Insurance coverage advice and technology-related litigation, including in defence of some of Australia’s most recognised companies.

Group Corporate Counsel

Agilyx Group - May 2017 to Oct 2019

As the Group Corporate Counsel for the Agilyx Group, Tyler had responsibility for formulating and executing global compliance and contract strategy, supporting global sales and operations teams along with regional and practice managers. The role was often customer-facing, with a focus on supporting deal-making by equipping the Agilyx Group’s sales executives with targeted legal advice and negotiation support.

Mayweathers - Oct 2015 to May 2017

Tyler was a lawyer in a five-practitioner, Sydney-based legal practice servicing private clients in a broad range of legal services including civil litigation and dispute resolution, commercial property law, employment law, commercial law, family law, taxation, intellectual property, estate planning and mortgages/securities law.

Product Consultant

Tyler visited small law firms across NSW and performed demonstrations of the LEAP integrated legal practice management solution. Tyler was able to quickly come up to speed on the LEAP software solution and close deals with small law firms. It was in this position where Tyler was introduced to Mayweathers, which was Tyler’s first role as an employed solicitor.

Education and Qualifications

College of Law - 2020

Having completed the College of Law’s Legal Practice Management course, Tyler is eligible to hold a NSW Principal’s Practising Certificate and operate a legal practice that receives trust money. Tyler received a High Distinction for his coursework.

Lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales

Supreme Court of New South Wales - 2016

Tyler was admitted to practice as a solicitor and barrister in the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 23 February 2016 and the High Court of Australia shortly after. Tyler has appeared in the Local, District, Supreme, Family and Federal Circuit Courts since.

The College of Law - 2015

The GDLP is the modern practice course required for admission to the legal profession after completion of the academic law degree. Tyler’s subjects were Civil Litigation, Commercial and Corporate Practice, Property Practice, Professional Responsibility and Practice, Administrative Law and Consumer Law.

Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

Griffith University - 2011

Tyler focused his university studies towards gaining as much legal knowledge as possible in an international and technological context. Key subjects were Property 1: Comparative Concepts, Cyber Law, International Litigation, International Commercial Law, Jurisprudence and Communication Processes in Law.

International Baccalaureate Diploma

Somerset College - 2006

International Baccalaureate (IB) is an internationally recognised high school qualification and an alternative to the OP, HSC or VCE. IB requires a high level of independent learning and time management to complete. Tyler was able to attain the maximum score of 7 for IB ab initio Italian and was one of only 20 in the world to achieve that maximum score in that year.
